Customs and Boarder Patrol Travel Tips

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

The U. S. Customs and Border Patrol have put together a great list of items to check prior to traveling especially if you are traveling abroad.

1. Proof of citizenship – Passport or U. S. identification. Always carry it with you. Never pack it.

2. Green card or document for Lawful Permanent Residents.

3. Notarized travel permission letters for minors traveling without their parents.

4. Entry documents for country(s) you will be visiting. Check to see if they will require a visa.

5. Medication that you will need for your trip and its original container.

6. Receipts or registration paperwork for any new (less than six month) electronic device such as a camera or laptop. Use CBP Form 4457.

7. Proof of rabies vaccination for dogs traveling with you. This is not required for cats but check if you will be traveling with other animals.

8. Appraisals or receipts if you are traveling with a lot new jewelry.

9. Valid driver’s license and or an international drivers license for the country you are visiting.

10. An envelope to put all the receipt for all your purchases for when you have to fill out the CBP Declaration.

11. Take a copy of Know before you go.
